Founding Director
Dung Nguyen is the founding director of It’s A Mindset. She is a dynamic and empathetic leader with over a decade as a senior people manager and executive in the public sector where she lead strategy, regulatory reforms and operational transformations. Dung’s unique value add to all her roles and engagements come from her ability to bring across and adapt different methodologies and ways of thinking to solving complex problems gained from her multi-disciplinary and multi-sector work experience. This has ranged from years working in product development for a multi-national automotive manufacturer, leading organisational strategies, coaching leaders as a senior strategy consultant, and delivering diverse reforms across government ranging from legislative reforms and modernising regulatory practices to designing new operating models, digital systems and whole of government procurement models.
Dung is naturally curious and seeks out innovative ways to change the way she and her teams work. Her positive, let’s give this a go attitude, with a focus on delivering outcomes has led to numerous successful reforms. In the process she has simultaneously coached and empowered her teams, colleagues and leaders that you can try new things, that it is ok to fail and that you can deviate from well trodden path and do something that is a bit uncomfortable to get truly remarkable outcomes. One of her earliest successes was implementing agile delivery practices and mindsets in delivering an ambitious regulatory reform program. Colleagues laughed saying policy and agile were an oxymoron and that it would never work! She and her team have never looked back delivering the reforms whilst simultaneously influencing her organisation to take up agile delivery for the rest of the reforms.
Her whole philosophy in life is wrapped around the articulation of what it means to give new things a go so that one can grow, learn, adapt and achieve more – having a growth mindset, an agile mindset and an outcomes mindset can help individuals, teams and organisations to tackle our new normal of constant change and major disruptors. Dung’s happy place is making time to support, coach and educate others so that they flourish in their work during these ambiguous times and enjoy the journey that they have embarked on.
